Inspired by our home brew competition winner, Pat Fry of Tucson, AZ, Fiery Beast is a hybrid ale based on the traditional Kolsch style from Cologne, Germany. Kolsch is typically enjoyed ice cold & in small glasses to ensure the mouth feel is crisp & refreshing and because the head traditionally fades quickly. This beer is true to style in that the clean white head fades quickly and the beer tastes crisp, dry & slightly malty, best served ice cold. This unique brew boasts a variety of German grains & Hallertau hops. It has a light golden color with a subtle & pleasant pepper aroma & flavor from fire roasted hatch chilies.
The name for this beer was inspired by not only the peppers but the symbolism of the Phoenix or mythological bird that represents rebirth. This magical bird lives for several hundred years and dies by bursting into flames. It’s rebirth from ashes is said to be the start of a new, long life. We are dedicating this beer to Jim’s brother Rob, who recently survived a near death experience.
